i need help with my games cheats?

i found my old N64 and i decided to play my NFL Blitz game and i also decided to look up cheats for the game and one of the cheats said 3-1-2 up. what does it mean by up does it mean up on the d-pad or up on the c buttons or up on the joystick?

The numbers tell how many times to press the TURBO, JUMP and PASS buttons. For example, 5-2-5 means:

Press TURBO 5 times.
Press JUMP 2 times.
Press PASS 5 times.
