Questions About Nfl Coaches Pictures

Mary asks…

what are the pictures are called that the NFL teams are able to have on the sidelines during games?

The pictures that the coaches show the QB's for them to see how a series went. And the defense's can see too!

admin answers:

Game Polaroids. As in instant camera film, although I'm sure by now they are digital and the name is just a throwback.

EDIT: Seriously, they are called "Game Polaroids" or just "Polaroids" Al michaels was talking about it last Monday.

John asks…

Where can I find a list of all coaches for the NFL (not just head coaches) from 1989 to present?

It would be nice if they were organized by team and awesome if they had pictures! Thanks so much!

Carol asks…

NFL coaches covering their mouths?

NFL coaches cover their mouths when giving plays. Where on the internet is a picture of a coach covering his mouth. (Mainly want the Jet's coach but will take any)

admin answers:

Mike Holmgren was the first person I thought of when you asked that. I mean, all coaches do that but it seems like he is always doing that. This picture is a side angle, but it kind of gets the point across.

William asks…

How are NFL Wild Card teams specifically determined?

I realize that one must be "the best" in their division and not already qualify for a playoff spot, but who exactly determines what "the best" means? (Somehow I have the mental picture of an NFL official sitting in a lawn chair on the beach being personally pampered by head coaches from various teams.)

NOTE: I know that it's much too early in the season to worry about wild card spots; I literally woke up this morning with the lingering thought in my head. Strange.

There are a whole series of tiebreakers the league uses. Someone will probably beat me to it while I go off to look for it ...

Questions About Nfl Standings Wild Card

Mark asks…

Can someone explain to me how the wild card works in MLB standings?

I mostly watch NBA, which doesn't have wild cards for playoff positioning. Can someone explain how the MLB wild card works? Also, do you know if it's the same as how wild card works for NFL?

thx

admin answers:

Wildcard is the best win/loss record among teams from each league who IS NOT first in their division. The national league and american league each have one, and thats the 4th postseason team

Say, the Brewers (central) Phillies (east) and diamondbacks (west) lead their respective divisions, and the Braves (east) have the best win loss average among teams not in the lead, Then the Braves win the wildcard. (I chose random teams haha)

I don't pay attention to football as much, but yes it should be exactly the same.

Michael asks…

Could someone please explain how the Jags have the edge for the wild card over the Dolphins?

According to all sites, if the season ended today, the Jags would have the wild card over the Dolphins. How is that possible considering they now have the same record and the Dolphins beat the Jags today. I was under the impression that the first step in a tiebreaker would be the winner of a head to head game.

Tie Breaking Procedures.

http://www.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakingprocedures

admin answers:

Its the primary tie-breaking rule when there's more than two teams with the same record. Jax has the best conference record of the teams tied at 7-6 right now. In that sense, the Dolphins technically are behind Baltimore as well right now.

Corrected statement from my earlier wrong statement:
Jacksonville has the conference record tie-breaker over both Miami and Baltimore and NY as of right now. It also has the common opponents tie-breaker in its favor over all three teams. These are the primary and secondary tie-breakers in the event more than two teams in the conference were to finish tied at the end of the season.

Next thursday, Jacksonville hosts Indy. Dolphins fans might want to watch that one.
