Questions About Nfl Champions History

Jenny asks…

were the 2007 giants the most overrated champion in NFL history?

I think the 07 giants were the most overrated/luckiest team to ever win a superbowl.
here's my argument.
If David Tyree doesn't make that ridicoulos lucky catch the patriots would have won the game, and all because of that one play it set up the giants to win. So pretty much that lucky once in a lifetime play won the superbowl for them.

admin answers:

No, if they are then two of the three teams they have beaten to get to the Super Bowl would have been really terrible.

It wasn't just one play, keep in mind the Giants faced the Patriots before so it helps them prepare. Not to mention the defense led the league in sacks and got to Tom Brady 5 times, Eli Manning having the best post season run where he have no interceptions prior to the Super Bowl. The only pick he had was a pass tipped by Smith into one of the defender's hands.

Luck can be a factor, but remember it can factor in every other team's Super Bowl victories as well. Even Joe Montana benefited from luck now and then, especially with that dropped end zone interception (1989 Super Bowl) which many have forgotten.

They're far from overrated, when it comes to luck, same can be said for many different teams.

Donna asks…

What defending Super Bowl Champion had the hardest schedule in NFL history?

admin answers:

Thats pretty tough to say considering its not really a stat that people think of much. I'm not saying this was the hardest ever, but the 2002 Patriots had to play 3 games in 11 days in November of that season. They played @ Oakland, Home vs Minnesota and @ Detroit. Oakland and Detroit weren't great teams but thats a ton of travel in a short time.

John asks…

How many times in NFL history has this happened?

That the league champion the year before was a one-and-done the year after, like this years colts?
no no no, you guys are misunderstanding the question.

I am asking how many times a SB champion was a ONE-AND-DONE, not how many times there werent repeats. Many SB champs in the past have won at least 1 playoff game the year after, so they wouldnt be included in this question; i am asking how many SB champions made the playoffs the following year and lost their first game

Questions About Nfl Scores 2010 Patriots

Carol asks…

Jets @ Patriots 2010?

So your prediction for this game??? i predict the Patriots win...31-17...the Jets offense has not looked good recently and the Pats D has had very opprutunistic turnovers....The patriots currently have the top scoring offense in the NFL and don't froget who is at the helm. Tom Brady. The pats also have the home field advantage and without Randy Moss the patriots have won everygame but one, while the Jets have won many close games including 2 in overtime...i feel that Tom Brady will break the record for consecutive wins at home next monday night....anyway what are your thoughts...
the colts Donald Brown is a good running back and the Colts have a decent enough running game...the patriots run defense the past couple of weeks has been outstanding...

admin answers:

Patriots win 38-24

The Jets are an incredibly stacked team, but they have struggled against really bad teams over the past few weeks. Not to mention, they have only played 3 winning teams this season, and only beat 1 of them. The Patriots are an incredibly strong team at home and Tom Brady hasn't lost there since 2006. It will be a close game until the 4th quarter, where the Patriots defense will come up with a big turnover that will put them in position to take a 2 score lead and win the game.

Personally I think the Patriots have a huge advantage over the Jets, Darrelle Revis covers the #1 receiver and shuts them down, but the Patriots don't have a true #1 receiver. So whoever Revis covers and takes out of the game, Brady will just pick them apart with somebody else. That matched with the fact that Tom Brady is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL against the blitz... It is going to be a long day for the Jets' defense.

David asks…

Colts @ Patriots 2010?

so who wins this upcoming week........this is no doubt one of the best rivalries in the NFL and a matchup of the two best QB's in the league...i think it will be close however i think the Pats will proove to much and Tom Brady will get his 25 consecuative home win final score: Pats 31 Colts 24
Everyone notices the Colts injuries/new players but not the pats....for the pats

Woodhead(new player)
Green-Ellis was the 3rd string RB coming into this year
Tate(2nd year player...last year did not play a single game due to knee injury)
Gronkowski(rookie TE)
Hernandez(rookie TE)

those are 5 new play makers....granted Clark is out for the Colts...
the patriots have had there fair share of injuries to don't get me wrongin just saying they are new players from the beginning of the year...woodhead was signed week2. Faulk is out for the year...Ty warren....out for year...mankins held out....lost Randy moss

admin answers:

I can't agree with you more, I think the Patriots finally take it to the Colts this year and end their losing streak now that we're back in Foxborough.

Also, you're right, everybody wants to make excuses as to why the Patriots are winning... "oh this guy is hurt and this guy is a rookie". The Patriots are starting 24 players this year that are only in their 1st or 2nd season as a pro... Hell our starting corner Devin McCourty is a ROOKIE! If and when the Patriots beat the Colts, everybody will come out in defense of the golden boy Peyton Manning and talk about how the Patriots just got lucky because Manning didn't have Clark to throw to, and Bob Sanders wasn't in the game or whatever. Other than Tom Brady and Vince Wilfork, the Patriots might as well be fielding an MF'n college team every Sunday. Go Pats!

Richard asks…

NFL all time matchup tournament?

If all these teams played each other who would win?
1.1985 bears vs 1992 cowboys
2.1984 49ers vs 2007 patriots
3.1977 steelers vs 2008 arizona cardinals
4.1999 rams vs 2010 packers

please leave results and score!
Update: I didnt realize i had forgotten the '72 dolphins....
Update: this isn't a list of the greatest teams its just some very good teams against eachother

admin answers:

1. Cowboys 32-21
2. Patriots 53-51
3. Steelers 21-3
4. Rams 48-34

Laura asks…

Who do you want to be on the cover of Madden 12?

Aaron Rodgers
Peyton Hillis
Adrian Peterson
Michael Vick

For me Vick has already been on it in 2004, so even though he had an amazing season he's out of the running. Although Peyton Hillis or Adrien Peterson would be a refreshing step away from the quickly becoming QB dominated cover I think Aaron Rodgers really deserves it the most. He put the team on his back all the way to the through the postseason in a team riddled with injuries. Some people state that it's becoming way too oriented towards picking the Super Bowl MVP, but doesn't that title just really describe how much that player earned it?

Originally in a debate over whether he or Alex Smith would be the number 1 pick of the draft, Aaron Rodgers fell 24 draft picks waiting for a painfully long 4 and a half hours to see where he would land before finally being drafted by the Green Bay Packers.
After waiting patiently and quietly for 3 years Aaron Rodgers took up probably the most difficult task in the NFL following up one of it's greatest legends. He endured the drama that teared the Green Bay team away from it's a player that had been the face of the team for 16 years.
He performed well his first starting season in 2008 throwing for over 4000 yards and throwing 28 TD's. Despite his solid performance the team dropped to 6-10 just after a 13-3 season lead by Favre. In 2009 the team was much improved overall and made the playoffs as a wild card, but lost to the Cardinals. Aaron Rodger threw 4 TD's and 400 yard this game, but the Cardinals just edged out the win after a questionable fumble that resulted in the Cardinals getting the final score winning 51-45 in an incredibly high scoring game. The next year in 2010 the Packers were determined. This was their year to shine and many sports analysts predicted them representing the NFC in the Super Bowl. They won their first two games against the Eagles and the Bills. Unfortunately they lost Ryan Grant their former star running back coming off back-to-back 1,200 yard seasons. They then started to plumet losing three out of the next four and losing star TE Jermichael Finley along with many other players getting sent to injured reserve. However in the darkest moment, the Packers began to show life again winning 4 straight games. In facing the Falcons Aaron displayed incredible talent in the clutchest of clutch with a last minute bullet to Jordy Nelson in the endzone, tying the score. Poor Special Teams, however let the Falcons take good enough field position to get within field goal range and score three points in the game's last few seconds. Aaron Rodgers then took the Packers to beat the 49ers. But then the Packers came to another stumbling block. They lost to the Lions after an offense wouldn't get going and Rodgers suffered a concussion. They lost another close one to the Patriots with Matt Flynn under center.
From this moment on it was a win or go home scenario for the Green Bay Packers. Aaron Rodgers recovered very well and decimated the Giants and just got a win over the hated rival the Bears.
Aaron Rodgers then took this horribly injured team through the top 3 seeds in the NFC. Against Mike Vick's miraculous return to the NFL on the Eagles, decimated the #1 seeded Falcons in his greatest performance to date. Throwing 31 of 36 for 366 yards, 3 TD's and a rushing TD. He struggled his way through their hated rival once more putting them away for good. Then went on to pick apart the toughest defense in the league to win the Super Bowl. He more than earned his MVP.

I decided to vote for the protagonist of the story posted above.
THIS IS QUITE LENGTHY I REALIZE. The 1st paragraph is important the rest is just a short summary of Aaron Rodger's NFL career so far. You may read it if you like.
@miamithrice6
I didn't vote for Michael Vick for the same reason I didn't vote for Drew Brees. Michael Vick has already been on the cover in 2004.
@roy g
Really all you need to read is the first paragraph. The rest is a biography of Aaron Rodgers.
