Sandy asks…

2009-2010 NFL Season?

I was wondering if anybody knew if they've released the NFL schedule for next season or a list of opponents?
steeler nation.....i can tell you are a Steelers fan!!!! anyway, the NFL schedule is set up 3-4 years in advance other than 2 games. that is FACTUAL...research it

admin answers:

Not yet. It's based off how the final standings end up.

Richard asks…

What do you think of your team's schedule for 2010?

Although dates and times wont be released til Tuesday night, the home and away opponents have been known for quite some time now

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d8157a75c&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true

My team is the Steelers, and although there are more pressing issues right now than who we play this season, I say it is a moderately tough schedule with some tough games (@ New Orleans, Jets and Falcons at home, Baltimore twice) and some easy games (Cinci twice, Cleveland twice [although they will be improved], @ Tampa, @ Buffalo) but from last year I know that even the easy games arent guaranteed wins
@ Jason B.

The Bengals are highly overrated and got lucky last season. They finished 3-5 with their wins coming over the Browns, Chiefs, and Lions and none of those wins in convincing fashion

admin answers:

Well, this is our schedule (not in order, of course)
AWAY: Steelers, Lions, Browns, Broncos, Bears, Dolphins, Patriots, Bills
HOME: Bengals, Ravens, Vikings (YES!), Packers, Texans, Dolphins, Patriots, Bills

I think we will go 13-3, our only losses to Houston, Denver, and to somebody in our division.

Lizzie asks…

would you trade your team's schedule for the cardinals'?

http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/ari/arizona-cardinals
their opponents combined W/L from 2010 is the worst in the league, which gives them the easiest SOS on paper. Road games at Baltimore, Minnesota and Philadelphia as well as home games against Dallas, New York (Giants), and Pittsburgh and home and away games against St. Louis make the schedule a little more interesting that it would seem in my opinion. Do you think it is the easiest in the NFL, and would you want your team to have a schedule like this? Especially for you NFC fans

admin answers:

Looks like a great way to have your schedule set up. Start out easy to get the new guys used to being with the team. Get the hard games out of the way before the season has worn you down. And then finish the season in a cakewalk that closes the season out on a high note.

Bidwell must have finally gotten off his wallet and sent it to the schedulers. Based on last year, I guess it is the easiest SOS. But, the Seahawks have made improvements in several positions (not QB) and rhe Rams should be better. We'll see how easy it really is. I am a Cardinals fan who loves the way the schedule is set up.

Questions About Nfl Network Schedule

Sandy asks…

Does Directv or Dish Network have the best NFL schedule?

We like the Sunday Ticket through Directv, but found out we don't get playoffs or Super Bowl and we can't add local channels in our area. If we get Dish Network, we don't get many games during regular season- or would we???? Live in a Broncos dominant area, but our team is the Titans. Am I being too picky? We want all the NFL football we can possibly watch!! Can anybody fill me in on how many games Dish offers during regular season..

admin answers:

We have Dish and the local channels. Our local channels suck, we get to watch the Rams and the Chiefs every week. How much fun is that?

Susan asks…

Network schedule for NFL playoffs?

Does anyone know who gets which games during the postseason? Id like to see NBC get some of the big games

admin answers:

NBC gets the two wildcard games on Saturday, January 8th. CBS gets all the other AFC playoff games. Fox gets the rest of the NFC playoff games and the Super Bowl.

Joseph asks…

Should Football(NFL, and NCAA) be schedule for network televsion everynight?

.........Wether is a Tuesday, and Wednesday Night College Football game. Thursday NFL...NBA,NHL,and Baseball is.
*Is on almost every night.
You have so many college teams to choose from. The NFL is fine like it is,but an every Thursday game wouldn't hurt.
DB,I work 6:30 AM -3PM Tuesday thru Saturday. You just have to be young @ heart. I,have friends come over for Sunday night, and Monday night games, and we drink. They have the same schedule as you.MLB playoffs will be on.The NHL season will be underway,so games are technically on everday. I,drink heavily when i'm off,but just a few beers for week games. You,just have to control yourself, and set a pace for the gaes everday.

admin answers:

YES! YES! YES! And.................................................YES!!!!

Linda asks…

Was last Thursday's NFL Network game scheduled before Michael Vick's guilty plea?

I don't think they intended the matchup to be between Peyton Manning and Joey Harrington.

admin answers:

Yes....the schedule is made up and released in May. He was still denying any involvement at that point.

Questions About Nfl Breast Cancer

Donald asks…

Who prompted the NFL's support of breast cancer awareness?

I remember watching a game and hearing that one particular player suggested that the NFL support breast cancer awareness. Does anyone recall who it was?

admin answers:

It's breast Cancer Awareness month, or maybe that was last month

Mary asks…

Where can I get the NfL breast cancer gloves, wristbands and other things I see the nfl players wearing?

NFL Breast Cancer Items

admin answers:

Nflshop.com

Steven asks…

why is the nfl doing stuff for breast cancer?

isn't the game played by men, coached by men, watched by men, invented by men, so why should the nfl be promoting breast cancer instead of something like Colan cancer or prostate cancer?

i think its great that the nfl is doing things to promote cancer research, but shouldn't it be something that affects men not women? i mean can you see the wnba doing prostate promotion?

admin answers:

I think they should wear brown ribbons for prostate cancer.

Richard asks…

If 1 in 6 men suffer from prostate cancer, why is the NFL supporting Breast cancer instead of prostate cancer?

most girls hate the NFL as it is...I say let the WNBA and Oprah do breast cancer awareness and let the NFL and MLB do prostate cancer awareness

admin answers:

Its all in the media, i mean more people die due to over weight issues than any thing else but you do not see any one talking about that. NFL and all other organizations that support breast cancer do not do it because they care about it they just want to show the world that they are responsible. So the easiest way to get recognition is to follow the crowd. The media has created a hype and every organization wants to cash in on that hype.

Questions About Nfl Conferences History

Sandra asks…

What NFL team has the most playoff wins in their history?

(combined
wild-card, divisional playoffs, conference championships, AFL and NFL
championships and Super Bowl?

admin answers:

..................................... W - L
Dallas Cowboys are 32 - 23
Pittsburgh Steelers 28 - 19
San Francisco 49'ers 26 - 18
Oakland/LA Raiders 25 - 18

Green Bay Packers 24 - 14 .632 winning percentage. Best!

John asks…

Are the Colts the biggest underachievers in the history of the NFL?

7 straight playoff appearances.
6 straight 12+ win seasons.
2 conference championships appearances.
And only 1 super bowl title to show for their success.

The Bills 4 straight super bowl appearances don't count because at least they got to the super bowl.

admin answers:

I look also at the Cowboys. The so called chemistry that Jerry Jones failed to create. All the hype, all the publicity, all the guarantees, have fallen by the wayside.

I really wouldn't call the Colts the the biggest, but the expectations that were given to the Colts has definitely fallen short. Probably why the picks and the predictions should be taken with a grain of salt.

And THANK YOU! For not bashing my Bills... While we missed winning the Big One, the core players from that era, Kelly, Thomas, and the coach, Levy have all made it into the Hall. Look for Bruce, Andre and (my favorite) Tasker to get recognized this year!

Just like Manning is a definate shoo-in as well.

Donald asks…

Best/Worst dynasty in NFL history?

Choose between:

A) 60s PACKERS (2 SBs+3 additional NFL Championship victories, lost 1 NFL Championsihp game, 6/10 playoff appearance)

B) 70s STEELERS (4 SBs, 6 conference championship appearances, 8/10 playoff appearance)

C) 70s COWBOYS <66-82> (2 SBs (+2 losses), lost 2 NFL championship games, 12 conference championship appearances, 16/17 playoff seasons)

D) 80s-90s 49ERS (5 SBs, 10 conference championship appearance, 16/20 playoff season)

E) 80s REDSKINS <80-91> (3 SBs, 5 conference championship appearance, 7/12 playoff season)

F) 90s Cowboys (3 SBs, 4 conference championship appearance, 8/10 playoff season)

G) 00s Patriots (3 SBs (+1 loss), 5 conference championship appearance, 7/10 playoff season)

H) Anything else (probably 70s Dolphins, late 70s-early 80s Raiders or 00s Steelers? Or maybe even 90s Bills)
Lions never was a dynasty...

admin answers:

If the 49ers dynasty was limited to the time Joe Montana was their quarterback, they'd be my choice for best dynasty. Add the Steve Young years to that, and I have to knock them below the '70s Steelers.

If the Bills of the '90s were a dynasty, they're my choice for worst. If they aren't, then I have to go with either of the 2 Cowboys' dynasties here (probably the '70s version, since my primary reason for considering the '90s version is because I hated 40-50 players on it, including Troy Aikman).

Sandy asks…

What was the most lopsided division vs division series in NFL history?

In the modern 32-team NFL, each division plays all teams in one conference division, and all teams in one opposing conference division. There are 16 games in each division vs division series. Has any division ever swept another division 16-0, or what is the most lopsided that the matchup has ever been?

My guess would be that a 16-0 sweep by a division would be even more unlikely than an undefeated regular season record by a single team, which has only happened once in the 32-team league and only twice ever, simply because there is generally more variation in quality within divisions than among a team's performance week to week in a season. I would also guess that 15-1 or 14-2 would be less likely than the corresponding single-team season records.

The current matchup between the NFC East and the NFC West is the most unbalanced in recent memory, though. I could see an NFC East team in 4th place with 9 or 10 wins and the NFC West winner making it in with 7 or 8, since NFC East also plays AFC North (worst in the AFC, just one contender) and NFC West also plays AFC East (currently best AFC record, all except Pats improved). Still, I'd like to hear if anyone has the records on whether there were any even more lopsided in the past.

admin answers:

I don't know, but it will be interesting to see if any NFC east teams lose to the NFC west. Cardinals could pull off a win possibly, and the skins never play good in Seattle, so we'll see.

Questions About Nfl Championship Rings

Robert asks…

Anyone know when they starting giving out Championship Rings in the NFL and NHL?

I know they've had NFL rings back as early as the Super Bowl, but I'm curious if there were any prior to the Super Bowl era. I know Baseball has been doing it from the 20s, just curious when the NFL and/or NHL started doing it.

admin answers:

There were NFL Championship rings at least as far back as 1930. I'm not certain if they were given by the league or team. Know nothing about the NHL.

The team gives them out but the NFL pays about $5,000 each for 150 of them. It's up to the teams to decide who gets them and if the team wants more than 150 or pricier rings, it has to pay for them..

Betty asks…

Where can I find replica nfl championship rings ?

my father is a big seahawks junkie so I was wondering if theres a place that whould make a replica ring that I could get

admin answers:

You may find some at pawn shops....Check with jewelers in your area. They could possibly help you....

Donald asks…

Did teams get championship rings in the NFL before the Super Bowl, or did it start when the Super Bowl began?

admin answers:

Well, there wasn't a NFL(as we know it..) before the superbowl....the predecessors to the AFC and NFC had their own championships and rings.

The superbowl developed as the championship between these two competing leagues.

So...yeah

Michael asks…

were to buy nfl, ncaa, and mlb championship rings and replicas other than on ebay?

I have several customers at my card shop asking and rather than going through ebay I am trying to eliminate the middle man and find someone direct to deal with. ANy help would be appreciated.

admin answers:

My mother works for the Steelers in retail. She tells all of her customers interested that the rings were made by Tiffany Co. And they should contact them for further information.
