Questions About Nfl Champions History

Jenny asks…

were the 2007 giants the most overrated champion in NFL history?

I think the 07 giants were the most overrated/luckiest team to ever win a superbowl.
here's my argument.
If David Tyree doesn't make that ridicoulos lucky catch the patriots would have won the game, and all because of that one play it set up the giants to win. So pretty much that lucky once in a lifetime play won the superbowl for them.

admin answers:

No, if they are then two of the three teams they have beaten to get to the Super Bowl would have been really terrible.

It wasn't just one play, keep in mind the Giants faced the Patriots before so it helps them prepare. Not to mention the defense led the league in sacks and got to Tom Brady 5 times, Eli Manning having the best post season run where he have no interceptions prior to the Super Bowl. The only pick he had was a pass tipped by Smith into one of the defender's hands.

Luck can be a factor, but remember it can factor in every other team's Super Bowl victories as well. Even Joe Montana benefited from luck now and then, especially with that dropped end zone interception (1989 Super Bowl) which many have forgotten.

They're far from overrated, when it comes to luck, same can be said for many different teams.

Donna asks…

What defending Super Bowl Champion had the hardest schedule in NFL history?

admin answers:

Thats pretty tough to say considering its not really a stat that people think of much. I'm not saying this was the hardest ever, but the 2002 Patriots had to play 3 games in 11 days in November of that season. They played @ Oakland, Home vs Minnesota and @ Detroit. Oakland and Detroit weren't great teams but thats a ton of travel in a short time.

John asks…

How many times in NFL history has this happened?

That the league champion the year before was a one-and-done the year after, like this years colts?
no no no, you guys are misunderstanding the question.

I am asking how many times a SB champion was a ONE-AND-DONE, not how many times there werent repeats. Many SB champs in the past have won at least 1 playoff game the year after, so they wouldnt be included in this question; i am asking how many SB champions made the playoffs the following year and lost their first game
