Questions About Nfl Careers

Lisa asks…

Why are NFL careers so much shorter than NHL careers?

It is not uncommon to see NHLers playing 15 or more seasons where as in the NFL 10 seasons and you have been around along time? NHL 80+ games in a season also very physical game play, NFL 16 games. Just a thought i had rolling around in my head for awhile, figured i'd get some good answers/oppinions here.

admin answers:

As much contact that goes on in the NHL it is nowhere near the same amount as in football.

Imagine having 300 pound guys going after your knees 40 -50 times a game. It doesn't happen like that in hockey. I give hockey players a lot of respect they take a beating, but nobody in any sport takes the pounding that football players take.

Somebody once said that playing in a football game is like running into a garage door full speed 50 times in a day. Can you imagine that? If you were a running back you would potentially have 20 to 30 times a week that you may have a concussion, knee damage, or something broken.

Any answer is just speculation, but I think a lot of it has to do with the overall fitness of the players. Hockey players are more agile and more aerobically fit than football players. Football tends to promote brute strength, whereas hockey requires all around fitness. I also think flexibility is an issue. That said, football does take a more punishing effect on a player. You are getting slammed into the dirt every play. Hockey players take some wicked hits, but the majority of what they do is fluid movement.

Daniel asks…

What NFL players have had the most successful careers after football?

Who do you think that may have had an average career in the NFL but was very successful in business or broadcasting after they retired?

admin answers:

Carolina Panthers' owner Richardson.

Joseph asks…

Which organization has ruined more NFL careers Detroit or Oakland?

admin answers:

Detroit, Do you remember Barry Sanders? Imagine how good he would have been had he played for a real team. Could have very possibly been the best of all time.

Not to mention the following players who could have been at least halfway decent players on other teams, but suck as Lions

Ndamukong Suh
Kyle Vanden Bosch
Brandon Pettigrew
Jahvid Best
Calvin Johnson
Matthew Stafford

and soon to be Nick Fairley.
